Girls Cupcake Party Ideas

We have hosted many parties over the years, but one of my favorites is this Girls Cupcake Party. Today I’m going to share with you all of the details, and hopefully give you some ideas if you’d like to host one of your own.

Cupcake Party Table Setting

The table setting. I let them eat in the “fancy dining room”. I found paper placemats at Hobby Lobby.

The Treats

Ahead of time, I made cupcake pops with Bakerellas directions.  (mine do NOT look as good as hers). To display them on the table, I put styrofoam in a planter, then covered the top with marshmallows.  I just stuck the pops in. I also had lots and lots of paper doilies all over the table.

Mini Candy Buffet

I did a “mini” candy buffet.  I could not find candy in all the colors I wanted, so I filled one jar with marshmallows.

My daughter requested lots of fruit, so we had strawberries, apples & grapes. (all in fancy dishes or on cake plates).

The Cake

The cake that almost was not. I used my cupcake mold cake pan. Then thought I’d cover the top with fondant. I have never worked with fondant but thought I’d give it a try. The top turned out ok (not great).

The bottom was a disaster!!!!  With 1 hr to the party, my Mom had the idea to dip the base in chocolate and it worked!  Not the prettiest cake out there, but I gotta show you the bad with the good huh!

The Food

We served them dinner. They had smiley french fries, fruit, pb&j cut with a heart-shaped cookie cutter, mini corn dogs, chicken nuggets.

We had Fanta to drink. The cans totally matched the theme, can you blame me?

The Activities

For the party activities, we decorated chef hats (paper ones purchased online), decorated cupcakes, and let them dip their own cupcake pops.

The cupcake pops got a little crazy, so no photos of that part.

My Mom had a great idea to put the different kinds of sprinkles in a cupcake tin with spoons so they could pick what they wanted. It was MUCH easier than just using the bottle they came in.

The Party Favors

For favors, when the girls arrived I gave them their own apron.

I ordered aprons in bulk online, then using inkjet transfer paper, printed a cupcake, and ironed it onto the aprons.  I would have loved to applique cute cupcakes on all of them but didn’t think I could get them all done.

The treat bags were little purses. I filled them with candy/cupcake stickers, “chef” rubber duckies, bubbles, and a few other things.

I also had cupcake boxes for the girls to take home the cupcakes they made in.

We had a great time and by using pre made food for the dinner, it was less work.

She is already talking about what she wants to do this year… We’ll see if I can pull it off.

  1. I’m using some of these ideas for my oldest daughter’s birthday in a few weeks. We are having a birthday brunch bash where the girls help cook their own brunch and then afterward decorate some cupcakes.
I bought the chef hats to decorate and I’m contemplating making some aprons. I made cute invites in the shape of an apron. I have to admit I peeked back at this post a few times. Thanks for the ideas 🙂

  2. Looks like you did an awesome job and that they had a great time!!! I almost wish I were that age again-maybe for an hour to two anyway to enjoy a party like that one! : ) Blessings, Sharon

  3. Thanks so much for posting these wonderful pictures! This is exactly what my daughter wants for her 4th birthday party – I’m definitely inspired. Just wish we had a Hobby Lobby here.

  4. Hi! I got one of those cupcake cake molds for Christmas, but mine turned out mushy inside but fulled cooked on the outside. Any tips? Did you use a box cake or make it from scratch? Very cute decorating by the way!
