Inexpensive Bed canopy

A few years ago, The bombay company kids had this cool “canopy” crown  for sale. I loved it and in the back of my mind thought “one day I’ll buy that”…we’ll one day didn’t come soon enough,  and they went out of business. You would think it would be easy enough to find another one but it was not…. Lots of looking online and only super pricey (like $1000 give me a break!) ones….
So I headed off to my local craft store trying to find something that would work… and I found it… It’s a planter like as in flower planter…. I just hung it upside down and it was only $10…
The drapes are from IKEA they are just basic white sheer drapes… I then went though my ribbon stash and sewed all different ribbons to the top and tied them to the canopy… really easy!! And less than $30 all together…
Here’s a close up—  I hope you can see it, I need a better picture…
Also, I have shared pictures of the room before but have a couple I haven’t posted before… lampshade is from IKEA, one of my favorites.. it has birds embroidered all over it.

I painted the picture… just need to get it framed, someday…..

Ooh I love that “canopy” I’ve been wanting to do something like that out of tulle for my daughters! Thanks for the idea!

SOOOO cute! I love that canopy. I want to do one in a less little girly fashion for above our bed, but I haven’t figured it out yet. I think maybe in a heavier more man-friendly fabric. Know what I mean? I will keep that planter idea in mind though. I love it!

I also love your picture you painted. I don’t think it even needs a frame. Cute as is!

What a sweet idea!!! I would love this for when my daughter moves into a “big girl bed.” Your blog is great, and congratulations on posting at Moda Bake Shop. That is great!

Where did you get the tiny Alice in Wonderland doll on her bookshelf. Is it a Madame Alexander? It almost looks like one of the MA happy meal dolls. But I don’t think they ever made one.

Melissa, in my next life I want to be YOU. Amazing. My kids would slap me if they saw Syndey’s room…
