I got some nice looking hooks (at the Pottery Barn outlet, but I have seen nice ones at Target & lowes). Then I just hung all the necklaces on them... Mostly by color, but it doesn't always stay organized. 
And I love it... It's so easy to pick out what necklace to wear when I can "see" them all. For effect I put all my pearls (they are all fakes) on the dressform my Mom got me... I love it - I think it looks very "french". I still keep the "nice" stuff in the jewelry box.

I love necklaces too. I have a TON of them and most are just costume things too, and they are currently all tangled up. I used to have them on hooks on the inside of my closet door in the bathroom, but I haven't put them back up since we moved in to our new house the end of last year. I need to get to work on that!
I have been trying to think of a way to store all my necklaces (the tangled pile in my jewelry box is just not cutting it). I think I'm going to try this! Thank you for sharing your awesome ideas.
