So I took off the door. Another project my husband wasn't thrilled with. Sometimes I wonder if he thinks I'm crazy becuase of all the hair brained ideas I have.
Anyway- I hung pink drapes (bought already made) on a rod that was mounted inside the closet on a rod... then used drapery rings to the curtains would slide. Now she thinks it's a dressing room...
Then on the wall that was freed up by removing the door, I added hooks... now she has a spot for her backpacks, jackets etc...

My hubby feels the same way, he dreads when I say... OOH I have an idea! I love it, looks great!
Hi Melissa. Molly here from Lovely Rita, formerly the Village Shop Blog. Sorry but we are not affiliated with the store at Gardner Village. Village Quilts is the name of my machine quilting business, and when I named it I didn't know about that store (I live in Utah), and also there is a store in my town called Village Dry Goods that is a quilt shop. Bad name choice I guess. Anyhow, I have been reading your blog for a while now, and I love all of your creative projects!
I wanted to take the doors down and hang curtains on my daughter's closet too. But my husband wouldn't let me. I really like that you put the rod on the inside of the door, I wouldn't have thought of that. If I ever get to use this idea I will do it that way.
I feel so cool to have already had an idea that you used too. Maybe I can be like you someday ;)
Thanks for the diaper bag tutorial! Love it. Can't wait to make one for my sister who just had a little baby girl.
Good idea! Samuel's closet is the same way (why do the builders do this??!!). His is a walk in also and the door cuts off half of the hanging space of the closet. It's so annoying. We don't even use that part of the closet because it is not accessible, so everything is crowded on the one end. I have thought about trying this but Josh has always said no. Samuel himself is oblivious!
I want to do the same thing in my toy room, but my husband isn't convinced!!
I take off closet doors, too! I find they just get in the way. I love the curtain idea. I'll have to do that in my daughter's room. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome! Gives the room a cute look and you can't go wrong with adding more storage space!
I've done this for all my kids' rooms, with fabric shower curtains! The fabric shower curtains last so long & you have so many colorful choices, it's soooo much easier than hanging doors when they come off their track. Love it!
