Tim Holtz Creative Escape Project

So I guess I have been living under a proverbial scrapbook rock and didn't know it... I had heard of Tim Holtz... seen his stuff and all, but I guess this guy is some kind of rock star in the scrapbook world... how I missed this I don't know.... but I digress... This is me and my dear dear friend Mindi with Tim after his class. Mindi flew down from Reno and joined me at Creative Escape, I love it that I get a hair brained idea to go to Arizona for a scrapbook retreat and she says "sure, ok, I'm in!" So, I must apologize for my last post, Mindi, getting to go with you was the highlight of my trip :-) (but I'll save the rest for my personal blog)

So back to the creative stuff...
Tim's class was awesome. He was the best teacher, I spent the whole class going "oh" and "ah, ha" and "why didn't I think of that"... He had an awesome creative project and clear directions with a killer attitude to boot... Made for a fun relaxing and educational class. Even if he did make fun of me because I did not want to sand and ink the cute little suitcase.

Here are photos of the project. Feel free to ask questions.

The whole mini scrapbook fits in the cute little suitcase. The cover is made of grunge board with a swirl pattern. I had never worked with grunge board before but it was cool because you could paint it, then sand it down and ink it, it doesn't pill up or tear so it's a great material for the cover of a book. You can't really see it in this photo, but in the bottom corner are flowers made of metal. He had use use needle nose pliers to bend the flowers to make them 3D - such a clever idea I thought!

The inside pages... The flowers are coated in distress stickles.. Very very cool stuff.. Makes them look like they are covered in sanded sugar- can't wait to play with it come more.

To make the pockets we folded up the bottom of the pages and stapled them with the Tiny Attacher- so cute- teeny tiny staples...
I'll get more photos up soon...

Ahh, I love that you thought of me. Is it too early to be excited for next year? Now read down at all the nice things people said about me. . . what's that?. . . they were talking about Heather Bailey?. . .but. . .

That is beautiful! You've inspired me to scrap more often. I don't do that much since I've started blogging, but that little book is just my style and reminds me how much I love paper crafts! Thanks!
