Alice in Wonderland Party Ideas

This weekend we all took a little trip to Wonderland in honor of my daughter’s 9th Birthday. Come take a peek at our Alice in Wonderland Tea Party.

If you’d like to recreate her party to throw one of your own, here are all of the details from her “Mad Tea Party” Alice in Wonderland Birthday Party.

Sources for our party favors and decorations are linked where available.

All the Party Details

The Invitations

Save yourself some time and order custom invitations on Etsy. There are loads of great themes to choose from. Just search for “Alice in Wonderland Invitations”.

The Party Food

To save time, use premade cupcakes and cookies. Order a dozen cupcakes from your favorite bakery. Pepperidge Farm cookies are also great for “tea” parties like this.

Serve water, juice or clear soda instead of tea since most kids do not like tea (and some can not have it at that age).

Decorate the cupcakes with “Alice” themed party favors. Get all of the info on the DIY party favors here.

Table Setting

Since you’re throwing a party for kids, create a tablescape that is disposable. That way you won’t stress about drinks or treats staining your good tablecloths.

To add a bit of pop to the table, just use a roll of wrapping paper as a table runner.

Party Games

I feel like this one is obvious, play croquet! The best part, no one needs to shout “off with their heads”.

Party Decor Ideas

If you’re able, it’s always fun to add some party decorations to the ceiling. If this won’t work you can also use chandeliers. This party featured large paper balls hung from fishing line from deck rafters.

Keeping with the “Alice” theme, decorate some flowers with plastic googley eyes. Add them to a simple plastic vase and use them as a party centerpiece.

Party Favors

Purchase colorful lunch sacks and fill them with inexpensive treats.

Party Crafts

You’ll want to pick party craft activities based on the age of the kids attending the party. Most older elementary kids can complete simple crafts.

Try making a simple beaded bracelet or a little “Alice” necklace.

The Birthday Cake

You can bake your own cake or order one from a bakery with simple deocratons. This party featured a 2 tier cake decorated with fondant cirles to give it a “mad” feel.

Plastic Alice in Wonderland dolls and colorful candles were used as cake decorations as well.

Party Hats

A “mad” party needs a mad party hat! Order some crazy paper hats online and let the kids pick which ones are their favorite color.
