The Score...

Summer: 3
Me: 0

Summer is winning right now, not just winning but kickin' my rear...

Just thought you'd like to know that today :)

Here's to hoping I can stage a comeback in July....

on a lighter note: I'm headed to Salt Lake City next week... I grew up there but have lived away for 15 years now.
Soooo let me know your favorite places to shop and eat. I'm always on the hunt for new fun things when I visit.

Let's see. You've probably been to Temple Square, Mt. Timpanogous, BYU Creamery, Article Circle ( I miss those shakes), Deseret Industries, ect. I guess those are the traditional places to visit. I don't know. Go exploring.

Head south to Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. Lots to see and do -- fun shops, great food, petting zoo, dinosaur museum. Be sure to check out the Gateway (just west of the Energy Solutions/Jazz arena) in SLC. Fantastic shopping -- theaters -- planetarium -- fantastic food!! You won't go wrong with either of those!

Tai Pan Trading is a fantastic local home decor warehouse in SLC that is totally worth it!

Definantly explore/shop at the Gateway, Thanksgiving Point, Material Girls, Tai Pan, Dear Lizzie (about 30 miles south in Highland...LOVE this shop! Pricey, but very chic! Maybe you will be inspired (?).....Oh so many!! I am sure I will think of more places later.
I don't like to eat out a whole lot...but I know that Gateway has some great choices. And if you go to Dear Lizzie, you can eat there or...go across the street to Blue Lemon....YUM!

I thought she had another post about some great outlet place near the airport. If I find it I'll post it. But it was making me almost not dread the long van ride from Cal. if I could find some of these great things too!

If you go to Gateway, take your kids' swimsuits. There are some fun fountains that the kids can play in on summer days. I was there today and it was packed! There is a wonderful farmers market every Saturday morning at pioneer park- DON'T MISS IT!! Lots of fresh food, and fun crafts. Our family's favorite thing to do in the summer!

Ummmm...Citrus Grill on 33rd. I like to say I'd eat their Spinach and Artichoke dip off a homeless man's foot. And it's probably true.

Granatos is my favorite Italian sandwich place on 3rd west. Also a yummy frozen yogurt place called "Spoon me". Those are always a must for me when I go back west. Have fun!

Gardner Village is a great recreated mill town, complete with original houses that now have shops in them-Pine Needles (great fabric store), Kamilles (yarn), Down to Earth and the Country Store(furniture and house stuff), and Sweet Aftons (fun candy store with amazing fudge). It's located at 7800 S. 1300 W. I concur with Emma on Tai Pan-while you're there grab some V Chocolates. And Cafe Rio (there's one right across from Material Girls-kill two birds with one stone!).

Great suggestions already so I will second (or third) some of them. Tai Pan is amazing. It's not far from Gardner Village (and Pineneedles has great fabric) and Material Girls in West Jordan. And I also love Cafe Rio.

Let me know if you make it down to Highland (I will second the Blue Lemon recommendation as well) and I will come stalk you. :)

Don't know if you will be in Provo at all but I just went to a great bakery in Provo called "sweet tooth fairy". The cupcakes and cake bites were amazing. You should stop by there if you will be in Provo!

The road east of gardner village has a couple of fun stores--Home Again is a cute and fun consignment store and Black Goose design is next door to it (pretty pricy furniture, but beautiful stuff!).

Also, the Wood Connection near Fashion Place mall in Murray is a fun little find. They have custom cut wood for all sorts of fun seasonal home decor that you can paint and embellish as you want! They also have frames, shelves, plaques, etc! Check their hours if you go since they close early.

Rod Works is similar to Tai Pan on a smaller scale, but also has some cute home decor things at reasonable prices. They have several locations.

Enjoy!

You HAVE to try Moki's. It is a Hawaiian Grill (my husband's aunt owns it). Believe me, you WILL not be disappointed! It is located on 4800 south Redwood Rd.

Come to Utah County.. I am a SLC girl and grew up on the same street as the Hogle Zoo. When we movie to Utah County I found the cutest places to shop.. Broadbent's in Lehi(still run by the same family sense the beginning or time I think LOL) there is also a quilt shop in side this little store... Thanksgiving point has the really fun clothing and unique gifts at the Emporium. You can then head to the Blue Lemon in Highland for lunch and across the street to Dear Lizzy for another Eclectic experience.. I don't even know were to start with Quilt stores.. We have so many great stores.. Material Girls(West Jordan), Pine Needles(West Jordan), Broadbents(Lehi), Quilting cottage(american Fork), and on and on....
HAVE FUN shopping..
