Summertime and the livin' is easy....

This has kept me totally preoccupied for the last month.  After 3 years of planning/saving/dreaming we put in a pool... lots of fun but lots of lose ends to tie up, contractors to contact, people to wait around to show up/not show up...

We are now doing lots of this....

Even though there is a GIANT mud pile in my back yard (no sod/mulch) and this...
adorable creature (who btw does not know she can swim)... seems to thoroughly delight in wallowing in the mud and trying to bring it in my house. Which is a problem because :
1- she is the same color as the mud and you can't tell when you have it all off her..
2- who wants their carpets & floors to have  cute puppy paw prints all over them?

School is out and the kids are having a blast swimming and playing. We have had a revolving door of cousins & a few friends in an out for 3 weeks.... The children are blissful... the pool keeps them entertained... I get to sit and watch them under an umbrella while sipping my Diet Coke...

Which brings me to my point today... I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for the last 3 weeks I really mean NOTHING! Between not feeling well at the end of May and school getting out and trying to juggle all of these contractors... My floors are covered in mud (as mentioned before)... my sewing room is a mess, and my stairs desperately need to be vacuumed, and oh, let's not even talk about the dishes..... I'm going to have to lock myself in my sewing room sometime this weekend and get some stuff done!! (oh, I really should clean the toilets too)

Sooo... keep watching for more fun things here, I'll still be posting 1-2 times a week all summer, I've got some fun projects planned for outdoors that I'll have to share. Just know it might not be as busy here as before, probably Tuesday Tutorials ever other week.... because I am most likely outside, watching a multitude of children, which is not really a bad thing :)

That is so cool!!! I really need to put on of those in too!!! How fun would that be!!! And I hear you on needing to take care of the yucky house stuff too!! My kids still have a week of school - but I am so behind in house work!

Have a great summer!!

My favorite thing about this post is your mention of vacuuming the stairs...I hate to vacuum the stairs, and always leave it until they are embarrassingly in need of it! Happy summer!

My potties need some SERIOUS attention...and I definitely don't have an awesome pool, and the subsequent mess, to blame it on!! I guess that means I need to get out the brushes immediately.

(or...I can play "toilet roulette". That's where I don't clean them and hope that no outsiders come over and ask to use the potty. It's pretty fun!)

Melissa, it's okay!!! That's the great thing about us crafty mommy bloggers...we all understand that family stuff comes first. In a way, it's kind of fun to find out the reasons why someone hasn't updated their blog in a while...it means they are super busy and as soon as they return to blogging, we all get to read about what they have been up to. Have fun with your pool! Stay safe!

I feel that is what I need to do too! Your announcement of it takes tons of pressure off of me. I just need to relax and enjoy! Thanks! I hope your summer is fantastic!

Enjoy watching your kids swim without a bad conscience because you are not doing much. These times are precious and are very short indeed. You will remember those blissful summers and not the muddy house. Take it from an "empty nester".

I know exactly what you are saying - I'm struggling with that same balance myself these days. Having a fun summer with kids combined with trying to keep the blog momentum going is so tricky. Esp when you blog about stuff you make - when is the time to actually make the stuff? Sadly, I have a feeling no one wants to read about the piles of laundry I folded, but some days that is my biggest measurable achievement. ;) Good luck!!
