A few months ago I shared with you one of my “tricks” for scrapboooking vacations. Today I’m going to show you how I used those tricks to make this DIY Disney Cruise Scrapbook.  Essentially I do the journaling on the trip then come back afterwards and add photos and embellishments.

A few weeks ago, this album looked like this:

As I’ve been in the scrapbooking mood lately- I finally opened the baggie and got the album put together.

While on our trip, I sat down and wrote down each night what we did. Somedays it was quick just “top 10” and somedays it was a longer description.  To save time, I did the journaling right on the pages that would go in my scrapbook.

I’ll share with you some photos of the finshed book- Let me tell you right now though- this is a SCRAP book in the truest sense of the word- it’s got ticket stubs, recipets, hastily written notes and sloppy handwriting it in.  One of the tricks I’ve found to get these type of albums done is too not stress too much about the design- as it turns out I kinda like the hodge podge look.

The book is constructed from 2 9.5″x9.5″ pieces of chipboard for the front and back cover. Inside the main pages are 9×9 premade pages from Close to My Heart (I don’t think they sell them anymore) and chipboard tabs that I picked up at a local scrapbook store.

I used the tabs to break the album into sections- basically one for each Port of the cruise & one section for the photos on the boat.

I printed all the photos 4×6 and didn’t crop them- That’s what’s nice about 9×9 it fits 2 4×6 photos nicely.

I just used 2″ metal rings to hold the book together (easy to rearrange that way).  You can use reinforcement tabs on the back of your pages if you are worried about little hands tearing them.  Since all my pages are cardstock weight, they hold in the album pretty well.

Most of the time I journaled in the margins of the page, or on tags that I took with me.  Then I just glued the tags in the album.

The paper in the albums is a combo of Close to My Heart and supplies from the Disney Cruise line scrapbooking kit that I bought on board the ship.

I tried to keep little things from the trip- like the time reminder card I stapled on this page.
