Christmas Table Runner

Two years ago I shared a double tutorial for this project over at Moda Bake Shop. To this day it’s still one of my favorite tutorials.

Almost as soon as I posted it the photos were bugging me. Too much contrast, bad lighting… When it’s winter in Kentucky you can go DAYS on end without seeing the sun.   It makes it very hard to take a decent photograph… especially inside.

Last summer I pulled out the project and snapped some better photos, and I’m happy to share them with you today.

And because I AM CRAZY I cut out additional applique pieces to make some kits.

Watch for them along with the now extinct Figgy Pudding Honey Buns in the shop next week.

and speaking of the shop….

There is a full size version of the tree skirt for sale as a pattern.  I use a super tricky method to piece it together quickly. You could easily make one before Christmas.

I Love that tree skirt! I desperately need to make one for our tree this year. Last year, I just threw a big piece of Christmas fabric around the base of the tree. I’d like to do something a bit more elegant this year.

Hi – that runner was awesome and I rushed out and bought the fabric, and adapted your pattern – I ended up with two – here’s one – http://kateoz.blogspot.com/2011/01/tablerunner.html

This project on Moda’s Bakeshop is what led me to follow your blog!
I just found a stencil with an appropriate font style and size, similar to your choice but but not exactly the same and plan to get this runner done for this Christmas. Hmmm, in fact, it could be redefined nicely for an Autumn runner in fall fabrics…. next year’s project!

That Figgy Pudding line is my very favorite Christmas fabric ever. I have not found anything since that I love as much. I’m going to check out your shop right now to see if there is anything left!
