A few months ago I shared with you one of my "tricks" for scrapboooking vacations.  Essentially I do the journaling on the trip then come back afterwards and add photos and embellishments.

Scrapbooking Summer...

With Summer winding down here I've been thinking of how I want to remember it. It turned out to be a pretty good summer and I'd like to scrapbook it so that we'll always be able to look back on it. We've only got 1 or 2 more summers until my oldest is off to college (insert panic here) so all of this time together as a family has seemed more precious the last little while.

I know many people who have stopped scrapbooking- There are lots of reasons, but the one I wanted to point out here is the overwhelming feeling that you have to scrapbook every picture... Let me just tell you right now that I'm not doing that.  I decided a couple of years ago to just concentrate on the "special stuff".

I've also changed how I go about it-  Instead of only the traditional 12x12 albums I've branched out and done mini albums (you can see many of them here), digital printed & bound albums & themed albums (like Christmas).  It's helped me quite a bit and now I just look at any scrapbooking that I get done as a "bonus" instead of feeling guilty if it's done or not.

Off to College Quilt

Last year one of my nieces headed off to college 1600 miles from home.  I was stumped trying to think of a graduation present for her.   I thought about it all summer... then it was time for her to leave for school and I finally had an idea.

I decided to make her a quilt with her families photos on it. That way if she was homesick she could cuddle up with her quilt and be reminded of her family that loved her far away.

I sketched out this quilt and picked out the fabrics (she had a black/pink dorm room) then sewed together the blocks.... then decided  I was not really happy with how the blocks all lined up--- Hence why I haven't shared this project with you earlier.  I should have swapped some of the fabrics, but oh well... live and learn.

To make a quilt like this its EASY PEASY....

Ruler Wreath

A couple of days I posted on the Polkadot Chair facebook page asking for ideas for a wreath for my front door. I was stumped, too late for summer, too early for fall.  Lots of people suggested that I do a back to school wreath. Then they suggested I use school supplies to make it then VOILA I had and idea! (thanks guys!!!)...

I decided to made a wreath out of rulers! The idea might have come from my unnatural obsession with starburst mirrors lately - I thought this was a fun spin on that idea.

10 Tips from a Home Show

Last week I braved the humidity ridden, 90+ degree weather that is a Kentucky summer to tour a local Home Show.  Armed with my camera I snapped dozens of photos of the beautiful homes.

It was held in Norton Commons, a planned development community in Louisville, Kentucky.  The neighborhood was designed as a live, work & play community. Lots of walking paths, green space and amazing architecture.

Today I'm sharing with you my top 10 favorite decorating ideas from this year's Homearama. (visit link for more info on builders or decorators)  *note: not the best photos I've ever taken, but I was dodging people and trying to snap quickly with less than ideal lighting inside the homes.
