25 Days of December Album
I hope that you like this 25 Days of December Album made from an upcycled storybook. If you enjoyed this project you may also like this article on Ideas for Holiday Memory Keeping.
The past few years I’ve participated in Ali Edwards 25 Days of December Project. You can read all about it here on her blog.
This year I decided to something a little bit different with my album. In the past I’ve stuck with a more vintagey Christmassy look.. You can see my past albums here and here and here.
I wanted a bit of a change, something brighter and fun. So I destroyed a poor neglected Christmas Book *wink*
Actually, we have a Half Price Books in our city, I can always find treasures there. I picked up this copy of Olive the other Reindeer for about $5. For that price I decided it was okay to “rearrange it” .
I started by cutting off the spine carefully with an exacto knife. After that I used some washi tape to cover the raw edge on the front and back covers of the book.
This made up the front and back of my album. Now I just needed to make the inside pages.
I cut scrapbooking paper to size. All of it was double sided. Then punched holes in it and interspersed it with some other elements.
A few of the pages I left 12″ wide and folded over the extra.
This gave me a nice flap and some more room for photos and journaling once I get going.
Since the illustrations in the book were so beautiful, I used several of the pages from the book as base pages for my album.
I could not resist using the “THE END” page from the book as the last page in my album.
I’ve got a bunch of supplies gathered in a ziploc bag to complete the album. My goal is to get a few photos each day and sit down once a week to work on the album.
I’ll be sure to share photos of the finished album with you! Is anyone else out there joining in on the 25 Days of December Challenge?? I’d love to see your pages!
Absolutely Adorable!!!
Thank you!
This is so cute! I have a question for you, what tool did you use to punch a hole in the book cover?
Thank you!! I used a Crop A Dile to punch through the covers.
Thanks for your prompt reply, love following your blog and pinterest pages! 🙂 Merry Christmas!
I love this idea!! Also love that you’ve used pages from the book — great inspiration! Thanks for sharing.
This is so amazing. I never would have thought of altering a book like that. I’m going to have to “steal” this idea…with a link to your awesome book, of course! Thanks so much for sharing. It’s just delightful!
Steal away! That’s why I blog LOL!!!
I love your album; it is perfect!! I have done a December Daily album many times so I was going to sit this year out. Seeing your album makes me want to make an album though! Have a good week.

I LOVE this so much – have always loved his illustrations. I was planning on doing a 4×6 December Daily this year but I’ve been back here 3 times looking at this book…I think I may have to switch!
