I chose to fill my jar with white chocolate pretzels, as I’m totally unable to resist those buggers… something about the salty-sweet combo gets me every time!

You could also fill them with white wrapped candies, white gumballs, or muddy buddies (that’s Chex coated in chocolate and tossed in powdered sugar- google it, you can find a recipe easily).

How do You Make a Snowman Mason Jar?

Step One: Fill with Pretzels (or White candy)

Fill the jars with your choice of candy or treat. Secure the lid that came with the mason jars.  These would be so cute done in a pint size and filled with tiny marshmallows to use in hot chocolate.

Step Two: Glue the Buttons to the Jar

Next, use a bit of hot glue to glue 3 buttons to the front of the jar.

Step Three: Make a Scarf

To finish it off tie a scrap of red fleece around the neck for a scarf. My scarf is about 2″ wide. To make the scarf cut a scrap of fleece or felt 2x the width of the jar. Fray the ends with scissors. If you don’t have a scrap of fleece fabric, you can also use several strands of red yarn.

Step Four: The Tag

Print out the tag. The last thing you’ll want to do is print out your Snowman “I’d Melt for You” Gift tag! If you want to make the gift a bit more “special” you could easily attach a gift card under the tag!

Lastly, just attach the jar’s lid as you normally would. If you’re feeling extra crafty you can spray paint the lid black or white, but I like to leave mine gold.

    1. Hi Julie!
I hope its not too late! (I’ve been away from the internet this Christmas), you need Adobe Acrobat to open the tags. You can download it for free on Adobe’s website.

  11. I love this idea & I’m making them for Christmas gifts this year but I have a question about the jars. I can’t tell from the picture … are the jars you used smooth or do they have raised lettering on them? I thought it would be hard to glue the buttons on if the jars weren’t perfectly smooth (on at least one side) but I’m having trouble finding smooth ones. If you used smooth ones, where did you buy them? I need them to be a good price because I’ll be making 30+. Thanks!

  14. Love this project! Thank you so much for the tutorial and free printables! I’m currently making them for members at church! They’ll love them!

I did have a difficult time with the labels though and just wanted to pass a quick tip to others if they’re having alignment issues 🙂 I bought the Avery template labels that you used and downloaded the template from this post. I seriously printed about 6 sheets of horribly unaligned labels before I figured out what I was doing wrong! They were printing on the creases so parts of it were cut off! I was trying to print the labels on the side that has all of the Avery label info in the margins. Once I flipped it over and printed on the blank side, it aligned PERFECTLY! Just wanted to mention it in case anyone else was having issues! Haha!

    1. Also, Make sure when you are printing from Adobe Acrobat that your page scaling is set to NONE. Otherwise Acrobat will resize the labels and they won’t fit on the sheets.

  35. I just made some of your snowmen jars – so cute! I added a top hat by cutting a donut out of black glitter paper (from Michael’s) and putting it under the lip, and also gluing black ribbon around the lid, as well as cutting out a circle to put under the lid. I wish I could post a pic!
