DIY Frame Clutch Ideas

Next week I’ll be attending the Alt Summit in SLC.  I’m excited but admittedly a bit nervous.  I don’t want to feel like a fish out of water as I’ve heard there are some insanely talented people attending.

I’ve started to pull a few things together to take with me, and resisting the urge to buy a whole new wardrobe!

Some Pattern Updates

Ever since I made the July bag, I wanted to make it again but out of home decor fabric this time.  My trip to the Sewing Summit in October provided the perfect excuse to get it done.

This bag was originally designed to be a beach bag so I made it out of burlap, since it gave it a very rustic, summery feel.  I think I love it just as much made out of decor weight fabric!

In the midst of it all, I spent lots of time last weekend doing this…

New bag pattern… here’s a hint, are you ready for summer???

The weather here in Kentucky has started to turn towards Spring and I could not be happier.  My soul loves the warm weather.
On our first day where the thermostat hit above 60 degrees I started thinking summer…
Lazy days by the pool…
Outings with friends….
Maybe a fun Vacation?….
The smell of Sunscreen…
Do you need a tote to take to the Pool with you this summer?  I designed the July Bag just for that.
Last year I got many requests for a Summer bag… but never could settle on a good idea… Then after some conversations with friends and spending way too much time looking for bags online,  this idea came to me. I wanted to make a straw bag, but didn’t know how.  The I realized… burlap!
Burlap is not the easiest to sew with but I did manage to figure out a trick to sewing with it (which I will share in the pattern). The burlap used in this bag is standard burlap from a big box sewing store, but you could make it out of upholstery grade burlap if you like… but I thought it looked great with the less expensive stuff. I love the contrast of the bright fabric with the neutral textural burlap.

The bag is fully lined with fabric and has 2 interior pockets (so you don’t lose your phone). It’s big enough to carry your beach towel, sunscreen and a couple of magazines.
There are also 2 exterior pockets for those items you need to grab quickly.
The July Bag Pattern is coming to my Pattern Shop, fourteen may…. on
