Five things on a Saturday
ONE:
Does anyone remember “the incident” from a few years ago? Fast forward to today and this fun new rotary cutter shows up in the mail, and my husband says “do they know you’re not to be trusted with those things?”
Well apparently OLFA does trust me to use a rotary cutter because they sent me one of their new models. Besides the fact that it’s so pretty, it has a much better system to change the blade.
40 Gifts for 40 Years
This week I turned 40 years old. To be honest I’m really not sure how I feel about that, it could take up a post all in itself.
For my 40th birthday gift, my Mom sent me the cutest thing! It was such a fun and unique idea that after I had opened a couple of the packages I thought “I HAVE to stop and take pictures of this!” It was such a nice idea that I wanted to share it with you here today.

A top for me, The diplomat tunic
I got the idea a few weeks ago to make a top for myself. I saw the Lisette Diplomat Dress and that did it. I haven’t made a piece of clothing for myself since I was in high school. Back then I was stick thin and much easier to fit. I fell in love with this Amy Butler fabric and thought it might be a good time to dive back into sewing for myself.
Saturday Snapshots
Ahhh… see something missing?
That adorable 17 yr old from last weeks Saturday Snapshots managed to knock it off while driving. You see they never really stop destroying stuff. When she was 5 she was carving her name into the linoleum with a ball point pen… now she’s knocking side view mirrors off of cars. You’d think I’d be used to it by now. In case you’re wondering, yes she has to pay to fix it herself. At minimum wage the car should have a new side view mirror sometime in the next century.
Saturday Snapshots
(my favorite shot, it’s SO her)
A few summers ago I started a Saturday Snapshots series here on the blog. I got away from it and decided that I should start it back up.
Basically Saturday Snapshots is a blog series that I started in order to 1)Get out my GOOD camera and take photos of PEOPLE (not just my projects). 2)A chance to share a bit more about me with everyone here.
Smash Book Travel Album
Last summer I had the great opportunity to travel to South Africa with my extended family. It was an amazing trip and I’d go back again in a second! You can read about my trip here, if you’re curious.
Before I left, I knew that I wanted to document my trip as it happened. I find that so many details get lost if you try and remember a trip afterwards.
