Simple Chevron Quilted Throw

One of the most frequent comments I get is ”I’d like to make a quilt but I don’t know where to start”. With this in mind I designed this simple quilted project that would be a great place to start if you’ve never made a quilt before. If you are an experienced quilter, it would be a fun way to show off some of your favorite fabrics.
Tone on Tone Applique Dots by Diary of a Quilter
Hello friends! I’m Amy and I write about my adventures with fabric on my blog Diary of a Quilter.
My project today was inspired by Riley Blake’s new collection of tone on tone polka dot fabrics! I’m especially loving that navy on turquoise! And so I created a little mini pieced quilt design that I plan to turn into a pillow for spring.
To get the variety of colored fabrics I used a Riley Blake Stacker – a collection of their light solids. Each “stacker” comes with 20 pre-cut 5″ squares. I needed 32 squares so I used two stackers.
Another Soft n Snuggly Baby Quilt
One of my favorite baby quilts to make is the one from my Soft n Snuggly Baby Quilt tutorial. It pieces together quickly and is a great way to use up some of your scraps. A friend of mine is expecting a new baby girl and I thought it would be the prefect opportunity to make another one of these quilts.

Some Christmas Sewing
I’m kinda in the middle of one of those “10 projects half way… nothing done” phases right now. I thought I’d pop in and share with you one of the things I’ve been working on this month.
Last year I bought this pack of funky Christmas print pre cut squares from Amy Smart.
She made this awesome Christmas Quilt with hers. A Christmas quilt was my intention when I ordered them, then I looked at them and saw stars.
Photo Quilt, a mini tutorial
I have been trying to make quilts for my nieces (and nephews when they get old enough) when they graduate from High School and head off to college. The first one I made is written up here. I liked the idea of a quilt to with photos of their family back home on it, to keep them warm if they get homesick while away.
