How to Make a Mason Jar Sewing Kit & Free Printable Sewing Gift Tags
Today I’m going to share with you how to make a Mason Jar Sewing Kit. If you’ve got crafty friends to buy for this Christmas this might be just what you’re looking for. (I’ve even included a free printable for you). This is sponsored content.
I love to come up with fun packaging for the holidays. I think that you can take a simple gift and elevate it to a whole new level by packaging it well.

This month I discovered Avery printable labels, and let me tell you I’m obsessed. These are not just any printable labels. These labels are high quality and perfect for gift giving or DIY projects. For years I’ve been printing out cards for my gifts and then cutting them out with scissors or trying to find a punch just the right size. It drove me crazy.
The same thing would happen when I’d make cupcake pics or party decorations. Then I found these labels by Avery and went, ‘Ah ha, that would be soooooo much easier!’
Avery Labels Review
The Avery labels are new to me and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. I chose to work with the square ones but there are also ovals, circles, and tags. The paper is very high quality too and looks great when printed on. You can get them in matte or glossy finish.
Here’s what’s cool… Avery has thought the whole process out for you, you don’t have to be a graphic designer or own any extra computer programs to use these labels. They have provided software online to do the whole process for you, plus it’s customizable.
Want tags for the teacher gifts? Or a “baked by Me” sticker for a cookie box? You can do that all online. Just click over to the Avery Design & Print Online, select the label you’re working with, and the design you like, and customize away. Then print it off at home. Peel off the label and you’re done.
What’s else is cool? If you’re like me and are comfortable designing items they also provide FREE TEMPLATES for you. Just download the template and open it up in your computer program and design away. No worries, whatever you design will fit perfectly on your label.
After working with the square labels for a bit, I decided to design a label for a DIY Mason Jar Sewing Kit. I think that these make great gifts at the holidays for crafty folks, and the label seemed like a great addition. DIY Mason Jar Sewing Kit Instructions
Supplies Required
- Quart Size Mason Jar
- Fabric Scraps
- Polyester Stuffing
- Hot Glue Gun
- Sewing Mends the Soul Printable Sticker – download HERE
- Avery 22846 Labels
- Fancy pins and other sewing notions to fill your Mason jar.
Step One: Turn the Lid into a Pincushion
To create the Mason Jar Sewing Kit all you need to do is turn the lid into a simple pincushion.
Ball up a bit of polyester stuffing so that it fits on the top of the mason jar lid piece (not the ring that goes around the mason jar).
Use a bit of hot glue to hold it in place.
Next cut a piece of fabric about 2″ wider on each side than the mason jar lid. Pull the fabric over the stuffing and mason jar lid and secure it on the wrong side with hot glue. Remove excess fabric with scissors.
Cut a piece of felt the same size as the mason jar lid to cover up the fabric on the bottom of the mason jar lid. Hot glue this piece in place.
Slip the cushion part into the mason jar lid ring. You may need to “wiggle” the stuffing around a bit to get the ring to pop on.
Download the printable and print onto the Avery labels. Then just adhere the label to the front of the jar and fill it up with goodies. Now you’re ready to gift it to your favorite seamstress.

You don’t have to use the printable only for a Mason Jar Sewing kit you can also use it to organize items in your sewing room, I love how it looks on my button jars.
