My 2013 In Review
The last couple of days I’ve shared with you my top 10 posts of 2013 according to Google Analytics. This list always surprises me it’s not always the same as MY favorites of the year. Figuring out what resonates with readers is still a fun ongoing challenge for me.
Inspired by so many other bloggers, I’m going to share with you MY 2013 in review. It’s fun to look back and see the things I’ve made, the people I’ve met and make new goals for 2014.
January started out by sharing several completed Christmas Gifts including my Crafty Zip Pouch and Wool Christmas Stockings Tutorial. After that I began sewing for Alt Summit by making this fun Frame Clutch.
January also brought Alt Summit and a fun idea for an interchangeable Holiday Wreath.
In February I finished up some Travel Scrapbooking, made this fun “Chalk Art” t-shirt;
and wrote up a tutorial for this Embellished Zip Pouch.
In March I hosted the first annual Project Polka Dot with guest bloggers sharing their favorite Polka Dot inspired projects! I will be repeating it again in 2014!
For my part of Project Polka Dot I shared a tutorial for this DIY Polka Dot Zip Pouch.
April brought with it a new job! Working with Bernina as a writer for WeAllSew.com. I also had a blast at SNAP conference in Utah. I shared a tutorial for a simple quilted throw, pom pom zipper pulls and some fun Kentucky Derby related crafts, like these Pretty Pony Necklaces.
May was a big month for me, I turned 40 years old! I also shared one of my FAVORITE tutorials of the year, these “Sunnies” Sunglasses Cases.
Just in time for summer I posted a tutorial for this DIY Maxi Dress made from a t-shirt. I also posted about some of the spoils from our Memorial Day trip to NYC.
June was full of graduations, girls camps and book deadlines. I did manage to sneak in a few projects.
These fabric luggage tags were another favorite from 2013,
as was my “go to” Summer Dinner- Ceasar Salad Steak Wraps.
July came with it a trip to Hawaii and more book deadlines. This lace sleeved t-shirt I made for my daughter was one of my favorite projects of the summer.
I also managed to finish a color blocked baby quilt and and a fun Fat Quarter Quilt for an American Girl Doll.
August brought with it many changes, including a daughter off to college and with it a whole new routine for my family.
Inspired by my college girl I shared a tutorial for this Dorm Room Memory Pillow
I also started playing around with sewing with leather and posted a tutorial to add leather straps to a handbag.
In September I had the immense privilege of teaching at the Riley Blake Fabric Fest retreat. I had nearly 90 students come learn how to make my Retro Travel Bag!
I also shared the finished product of my 3 year long laundry room makeover!
After Riley Blake I was excited to turn back around and head out west for the Sewing Summit where I taught a class on English Smocking.
By October I wanted to collapse! All of that traveling in August and September finally started to catch up with me. I resisted as October is one of my favorite months all year! I managed to make a fun Hexagon Halloween Quilt.
I also played around a lot with caramel making these fun Apples for Halloween.
In October I also jumped WAY out of my comfort zone to compete in Project Sewn. Although I got kicked out after 2 rounds I was inspired to start sewing for myself again and hope to share more Fashion Sewing with you in the upcoming year.
In November I shared another project as part of Riley Blake Fabric’s design team
and officially launched Polka Dot Chair Sewing Patterns! I also chopped up a bunch of my husbands old neck ties for the fabric!
In December I bought a bunch of Mason Jars and challenged myself to use the whole box! And I almost did, making these Mason Jar Sewing Kits
along with a Mason Jar Santa and Mason Jar Snowman.
I also shared a few photos of our home decorated up for the Holidays.
In 2014 I hope to share with you even more ideas! My goal for this blog is to inspire you to WANT to make something. I hope I did that in 2013.
