Introducing Zinnia the Zebra Quilt Pattern

I’m excited today to be sharing with you the last of my new pattern releases for my Safari Party fabric line, the Zinnia the Zebra Quilt pattern. I try to add a touch of “whimsy” to all of my sewing and quilt patterns and I’m very excited with how “Zinnia” turned out!

Zinnia is the last of my new patterns for Safari Party.  I have a few other patterns (including NEW bags) planned for Fall, but this is the last of the “summer sewing”. (I have 2 new bag patterns in the works and I’m so excited about them — it’s KILLING me that I don’t have time to finish them right now!)

Recap of Spring Quilt Market 2017 in St. Louis

Last Spring, on a whim I decided to make a giant Zebra quilt to hang in my booth at market. I turned the zebra from the Safari line into a giant applique pattern. I made it to “display” in my booth but didn’t think anyone would want to make it.

Well I was wrong, most everyone that stopped by my booth at market asked when the pattern was coming out.  So I went home and spent most of the summer making sure that all my “i’s” were dotted and “t’s” were crossed. I also developed a smaller version of the zebra that would be great for a mini quilt or a pillow (the pillow is 20″ x 20″).

The pattern is now available in the shop as a PDF file. The download comes with 3 files. The pattern and 2 oversized prints for the applique. After speaking to a few people, I decided it was best to offer a version of the pattern that you didn’t have to tape together since the zebra is almost 36″ tall.

You can simply take the file to a copy shop and ask for an Engineer Print. They are only a few dollars and you’ll get a full size pattern out of it. Easy peasy! (Just note, you may need to take a copy of your receipt with you just incase they are sticklers about copyrighted materials). I’m actually in the process of adding engineer prints to all of my PDF’s since it’s so easy (and cheap) to get them made.

We toted “Zinnia” around with us last summer. She even had a little photoshoot just outside of Zion’s National park in June.

The applique is set up kinda like a GIANT paint by numbers. You trace the pattern number then put it on the fabric in the correct spot. It’s all explained in great detail in the pattern.

To make my applique I used a fun new product that Cricut sent me to try, their Bright Pad (links are affilatle links).  It’s a super thin and BRIGHT lightbox and it was PERFECT for sliding around under my applique pattern. It’s designed for weeding vinyl lettering but I’ve been using it like gangbusters on applique patterns this summer.

Just hop on over to the PATTERN SHOP to find the pattern.

Printed copies are ON THEIR WAY! If you’d like to place a Wholesale order just shoot me an email (contact link is on menu bar).

Whew, that was a lot! Now I’m off to lay by the pool for at least one day before school starts… I feel like summer just started and now it’s over!
