Hey there I’m in Vegas! I’m teaching this week at Riley Blake’s Fabric Fest. I am so excited that the event is finally here. I’ve been planning out the details of my class all summer.
Part of planning out my class was making a few new Retro Travel bags to use as classroom examples. While I was sewing them I thought of a few new modifications and enhancements.
Little details and things to make it sew up better. Plus a few new options for pockets and handle attachments. I’ll be re-releasing the bag as a full PDF downloadable pattern this month! I won’t take down the tutorial but if you’d like some additional options for the pattern or to have it in a format to print you’ll be able to just download it. Easy Peasy. I’ll let you know when it shows up in my Pattern Shop.
For my class I made the bag out of Pink Chevron with a touch of lime green. I love the way it turned out. So fun and summery!
So far I’ve had so much fun teaching my class and connecting and meeting some new people! The bag is a lot to make in one sitting, but I’m hoping mostly that all of my students leave learning a few new tips and sewing techniques. I really want them to leave and feel like they learned something not just sat and made a bag for a few hours.
Yesterday I also had the privilege of teaching a lecture on Finding your Signature Style with the girls from Simple Simon and & and Lindsay from the Cottage Mama. I taught the section on finding creative inspiration and had so much fun researching the topic and pulling together my presentation.
Lindsay brought all of these AMAZING samples with her and I snapped this photo of this happy shadow on the presentation yesterday. I love the silhouette of the clothes! (FYI, the graphic from my presentation is from Rhonna Designs)
I’ve also had a blast shopping in the GIANT fabric store they brought in and meeting some amazing people! I’ve got 2 more classes to teach. Wish me luck!
