How to Sew a Zipper

How to sew a zipper with the Polka Dot Chair

 Hi!

Welcome to Sewing School! Today we are going to learn How to Sew a Zipper.  Are you excited?  The lesson today is part of my “Sewing Lessons”  blog series sponsored by Bernina.

Just a note, all of the instructions today will be based on using a Bernina 710 machine, but you can use ANY  brand sewing machine and follow the SAME directions.   I will say things like “adjust your stitch length to 6″ , if you don’t have the same sewing machine as me, you’ll just need to know how to adjust your stitch length. If you’re not sure, pull out your user manual.

Silver Platter Chalkboards- a few tips

Silver Chalkboard Platters

Today I’m sharing with you a gift idea that I know is not new.  I can’t remember the first place that I spotted one of these platters, but I immediately fell in love with them.  The idea of a Silver Chalkboard platter was so fun and unique that I spent the better part of the fall scouting out platters at my local antique and thrift shops. Let me tell you these things are not super easy to find!

On the Go Reading Pillow Tutorial

September is National Sewing Month and to help celebrate last week I shared this tutorial on the Fave Crafts blog. Today I’m sharing it here with you.

Reading Pillow Tutorial

I love to sew, it is truly one of the great pleasures in my life. When I’m not sewing you can find me busily blogging away at The Polkadot Chair, or stalking Pinterest for new things to pin (I may be slightly obsessed!)

Win, Place & Show Ribbons Centerpiece

I decided to add a bit to my Kentucky Derby Decorations this year by making some Prize Ribbon to use as a centerpiece.

I used the Number Junque, Spring Circus, Quaterfoil, & Chevron kits from Rhonna Designs.

In Horse Racing, the first place horse Wins, the 2nd place horse Places,  and the 3rd place horse Shows.  Hence;  Win, Place, Show are terms you hear a lot at the track.

Tulip Wreath how to

Before I finish blogging about my trip to the Netherlands, I thought I’d pop in here quickly with a little Spring “how to” project.

Feeling inspired by all of the tulips I saw on my trip, I decided to create a wreath for my front door for Spring.  Sadly I had to settle for fake tulips as real ones would not last more than a day, but it made for a quick and fun project.
