A Family Scrapbook, one month at a time

I’m sure that you guys have heard of Project Life. It’s an awesome approach to scrapbooking pioneered by Becky Higgins. The premise behind it is that you document your daily life, one week at a time.

2 years ago I bought the kit and gave up after February–  I think the thought of taking a photo a day for a year was just too overwhelming to me.

This year I want to try again.  But with an approach that would work a little bit better for “me”.

I’d prefer a month by month family scrapbook.  One where I highlight the top events in each month in our family.

I got the idea when I saw the Rhonna Designs 2012 Calendar Digital Kit- A year to Follow your Heart.  I love all of the decorated calendar pages  and thought they’d make a great base for an annual family scrapbook.
The calendars are sized 6″x6″ but I was easily able to print them out at 10″x10″ with great results (I used textured cardstock).
In addition to the calendar pages I decided to use some divided page protectors – I thought this would be a fun contrast from just having 12″x12″ scrapbook pages in the album.
For each month I plan on having the 12″x12″ calendar page (that I will journal on), 1 divided page protector and 1 additional 12″x12″ scrapbook page.
I printed the ledger paper from the Grateful Glam background kit, cut it to 4×6 and used some stamps that I had to label the different sections.  I’ll document our “favorite moments” and “top 10” things for each month.
I’ve also decided to set a personal goal each month.  I  printed the 4×6 cards from the Year to Follow Your Heart kit for this.
Here is a shot of one of the divided page protectors.  The blank sections in the protector will be for photos.
After I printed the calendars 10″x10″ I cut them down and mounted them on 12×12 scrapbook paper with photo corners.
Here is January
February
and March.
I’ve got 3 months ready to go.  As I work on this through the year I’ll be sure to share the completed pages with you.
