If you’re in the area, visit Shaker Village
Just a heads up.. if you’re in the area… (the central Kentucky area)
This weekend (19th – 20th) is the Antiques Show and Sale at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill
Shaker Village is a beautiful historical site in Central Kentucky. We try to go there once a year or so, it’s beautifully preserved…
I went to the Antique Show 2 years ago and had a great time. Lots of beautiful things. If you go, take a lunch, the restaurant there is wonderful but was packed that day, and know it’s more of an antique show than a craft show.
It’s worth it just to view the grounds, here are a few shots from 2 years ago:
They have the most beautiful curved staircase in the main building. One of only 2 in the US from what I understand (the other being in the Manti LDS Temple).
If our schedule stays clear (here’s keeping my fingers crossed) I’m going to go down this weekend, to shop and to take more photos..
I painted this one this year…
Which I actually managed to sell! (*gasp*)… I had so much fun painting it I’m going back to take more pictures… I see a painted Shaker Village in my future…
I LOVE Shaker Village! I went to college in Lexington, and it’s definitely a secret Lexington treasure!
oh i wish i could go!
WOW your painting is beautiful! I have been following your blog for a while and I didn’t even know you painted. This Shaker village is so cool, I would love to plan a trip.
Oh, that sounds like so much fun!! My husband and I just moved to the Fort Knox area and we love to go to things like this! Hopefully, I can convince him to go on Sunday since he will just be getting back into town on Saturday. Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a ton of fun!
I wish I lived in your area. I would love to go!
Those stairs are beautiful. They have some similar stairs in the Nauvoo temple as well. (a must see – if you haven’t seen it yet!).
Love that place. Do you ever go to the Antique warehouse sales in Lexington. Love them- but hate how hot the barn gets that they hold them in! This one looks a lot “cooler”
When I saw that staircase I immediately thought of the Nauvoo Temple, gorgeous. I love spiral stairs!
We visited the Shaker Village last year and Navoo. I didn’t know I was seeing such rare staircases. 🙂
Oh, take me with you!
Wonderful pictures! I love the clean simple lines of Shaker design. Mmm. Looks like a fun event.
And you paint too?? You amaze me.
Going to this today! I love about 2 hours from Shakertown. Looking forward to a visit, haven’t been in a while.
