Vintage Valentine’s Postcard Pillow

This year for Valentine’s day I wanted to play around with some vintage postcard images. I got the idea to put an image on a pillow and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
This pillow is for Valentine’s day but there are lots of great vintage images out there that can be adapted for any time of the year! I thought it might be fun to find a old Barbie image and put it on a pillow for a girls room.
To create this pillow you will need:
12×16 Pillow form
Fusible Printable Fabric sheet (I used June Tailor brand)
Jumbo Ric Rac
1 12×16 piece of fabric
2 12 x 10″ pieces of fabric
To begin print out your chosen vintage image onto your fabric paper (just run it through your printer on it’s regular settings).

Trim the image down using pinking shears or a pinking blade for your rotary tool.
Center and iron onto your 12×16 piece of fabric.
Stitch in place, close to the edge of the image.
Turn under one 12″ edge of each of your 12″x10″ pieces of fabric 1″ and stitch down.  Press.
Stitch your jumbo ric rack onto the edge of your pillow front.  Stitch close to the center of the ric rack and approx 1/4″ in from the edge of the fabric.
With right sides together, layer your 2 12″x10″ pieces of fabric over the pillow front. Your 12″x10″ piece of fabric will overlap each other.
Stitch together along the same stitching line you used to stitch down your ric rack.
Clip corners, turn right side out and you’re done!
Okay… one more “LOVE” idea to share with ya’ll!! Then LOVE comes to an end *wink*

  1. That is so cute! And can totally be used for so many other images. Plus I really like how you used the black ric rac. It cuts down the on the sweetness and gives it an edge so it doesn’t have to be so Valentiney 🙂 Very nice!
