A New Quilt Finish: A Pink Halloween Quilt!

I’m excited to share my latest quilt finish: a pink Halloween quilt featuring both ghost and pumpkin quilt blocks.

My pink Pumpkin Patch Ghosts quilt is finished, and I’m so happy to finally share it with you! Something about those little ghosts scattered among the pumpkins makes me smile. And with a pink background? Well, you probably guessed I’d love that combination.

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that I love making Halloween quilts. Give me pumpkins, friendly ghosts, and a good excuse to sew something seasonal, and I’m happy. This quilt checks all of those boxes.

Two Fabric Combinations – One Quilt Pattern

One of my favorite things about making another version of a quilt pattern is seeing how much the fabric choices change its personality.

The original Pumpkin Patch Ghosts quilt has a charcoal background, which gives it that classic Halloween look. Switching to pink makes the whole quilt feel softer and a little more playful.

The orange pumpkins still give it plenty of Halloween color, and I love how the white ghosts stand out against the background. It’s a fun combination if you like Halloween decorations that are a little less spooky and a little more cute.

If you’ve been curious about the “Pink-O-Ween” idea, a quilt is a great place to start. You can keep the familiar pumpkins and ghosts and simply change the colors.

Finished Quilt Details

  • Pumpkin Patch Ghosts finishes at 63″ x 63″, a great size to keep on the sofa during October or curl up under while watching a Halloween movie.
  • The pattern is fat quarter friendly, with pieced pumpkin and ghost blocks. The pumpkins are strip-pieced, and you make two at a time, which helps you move along when you’re sewing a whole pumpkin patch.
  • The Backing fabric is Riley Blake Designs Micro Gingham Flannel in Peony.
  • Quilt Pantograph is Meandering Pumpkin Patch.

You can find more pattern details and see the other color combinations in my original Pumpkin Patch Ghosts quilt post.

Quilt Kits Available

We put together a limited number of pink Pumpkin Patch Ghosts quilt kit for our September drop, so you can make your own version of this quilt, too.

The kit includes fabric for the quilt top and binding, a project bag, and our custom, exclusive “Made by Magic” woven labels. I love adding a small detail like a label to a finished project. It feels especially fitting on a Halloween quilt!

This set includes two labels: one black no-fold label and one white fold-over label. Both have finished edges to help prevent fraying. You can sew one into your quilt binding or save one for another Halloween project, like a bag, zip pouch, or quilted witch hat.

The project bag is also handy for keeping your cut pieces and supplies together while you work. Especially if, like me, you occasionally have more than one sewing project going at a time!

You can find the Pink-O-Ween Pumpkin Patch Ghosts kit in our shop.

Additional Construction Ideas

If you already have a collection of Halloween fabrics waiting for a project, this pattern is a fun way to use some of them. A mix of orange prints adds variety while keeping them connected by color.

When choosing a background, think about how both the pumpkins and ghosts will look against it. You want enough contrast so their shapes are easy to see. Try laying a few of your fabrics together before you start cutting, especially if you’re using a different background color.

That’s one of the things I enjoy most about quilting. We can start with the same pattern and end up with quilts that feel completely different.

For this version, I’m very happy with my little pink pumpkin patch. Now that it’s finished, I’m looking forward to having it out and enjoying it this Halloween!
