Tailored Tulips Quilt & Quilt Along

I’m excited to introduce you to my newest quilt pattern, Tailored Tulips. The Tailored Tulips quilt pattern is a pre-cut-friendly tulip quilt pattern made using a 10-inch precut or layer cake of fabric and some yardage.

It is a companion quilt pattern for my new fabric line with Riley Blake, Tulip Cottage. I’ll share more about the Tulip Cottage collection later this week, but first, I wanted to introduce you to the Tailored Tulips pattern.

About the Quilt Pattern

One of the things that makes the Tailored Tulips quilt pattern unique is that it uses a 10-inch pre-cut stack of fabric for most of the tulip leaves and petals.

Quilt Sizes:

  • Baby: 42″ x 50″
  • Lap: 58″ x 74″

I have created an example quilt with two different backgrounds: a dark blue background and a tan background.

Both of the background fabrics are for my sparkler fabric collection. One is Denim, and the other is Beach.

This quilt pattern would also look great with a bright white fabric background!

If you make the quilt using a Tulip Cottage layer cake, your quilt will vary from mine as the decision for which fabrics to use for which part of the quilt is all yours! I encourage you not to overthink fabric placement or try to get specific prints and specific spots for the tulips.

I also had to make my quilt from advanced yardage from the manufacturer, and the sample prints I was sent varied slightly.

I’ll cover more about this in the video that I’ll talk about later, but it’s definitely a grab-and-go quilt pattern. In a couple of weeks, I am hosting a quilt-along for the Tailored Tulips quilt.

The Quilt Along will be hosted on my YouTube channel. Subscribe to be notified when new videos are posted.

The Quilt Along begins on April 12 and runs through April 30. each week, I’ll have a video discussing making certain parts of the quilt.

It will kick off on April 12. We will discuss how to sort your precut pack of fabric and how to begin cutting out your pieces.

I’ll also chat a bit about staying organized during the process.

I’ll share how to piece the tulip and leaves quilt blocks in the following weeks. The tulip quilt blocks are pieced using a unique method to help you achieve perfect points with each block.

Where Can I Get the Pattern?

The pattern is available at many local quilt stores. I also have copies in my shop.

If you are outside of the USA, you’ll need to purchase on Etsy due to tax reasons.

I have a very small selection of quilt kits for this pattern in the blue colorway in my shop. The quilt kits come with a pattern.

If you don’t want to buy your fabric from me, I’ve linked to several shops that have it in stock.

Fat Quarter Shop: 10″ precuts & Sparkler fabric.

Etsy: 10″ Precuts & Sparkler Fabric Beach & Sparkler Denim.

Do I have to make the quilt with Tulip Cottage fabric?

No use any tennis precut stack that you would like.

Do I have to use a 10″ precut stack?

You can use scraps or quarters. If you make your quilt using fat quarters, I suggest that you gather a large variety of fat quarters so that you will have many choices when assembling the petals portion of the block.

Also, if you use a different fabric collection that does not include a fabric you would like to use for the leaves, make sure you purchase fabric for the leaves.

One of my quilts features leaves from the Tulip Cottage collection. The other quilt features leaves sewn from the Tulip Cottage collection and from my sparkler fabric collection in Clover and Riley Green.

If you have more questions, leave them in the comments section! I can’t wait to sew along with all of you!
