Waxed Canvas Travel Bag Sewing Pattern
If you’re looking for a great last-minute DIY Father’s Day gift idea then you may love todays tutorial! It’s a Waxed Canvas Travel Bag Sewing Pattern. It’s sturdy, stylish and most importantly, simple to sew!
I work as a Brand Ambassador for BERNINA sewing machines. As a part of my job, I create tutorials and content for their We All Sew website. Over the years I’ve designed quite a few tutorials and projects for them. Some of my favorite projects are my annual Father’s Day gift ideas!
This year I’m adding to the “list” of DIY gifts to sew for dad with this Waxed Canvas Travel bag tutorial. It’s pretty simple to make. I actually constructed this one in a slightly different manner than I have some of my zip pouch projects in the past to make it easier to work with the heaver waxed canvas.
For those of you that don’t know, waxed canvas is a canvas that has had a wax coating applied to it. I purchased my waxed canvas on etsy (click here to see the shop – affiliate link).
Before I started the project I thought that I’d have to make several adjustments on my machine to sew with the waxed canvas, but I found that I didn’t need to change much of anything. The machine stitched though it easily.
I also added a monogram to the front of the bag using my 770QEE machine. The has a built in alphabet feature so I didn’t need any extra program or computer software to create it.
