How to Make a Witch Hat Topper for a Soda Bottle

2 liter soda bottle decorated for halloween

My husband likes to tease me that I drink too much Diet Coke- and I probably do, but his teasing inspired today’s project- so I can’t complain too much. My very own bottle of Witches Brew *wink*

Our local craft store has the most adorable “build your own” Witches hat display.  On it were these cute mini-witch hats.  We are in the process of making one into a fascinator for my daughter’s Halloween costume, and I picked up an extra for this craft.

Supplies

2 Liter Bottle of Soda
Small Witch Hat
Styrofoam cone that will fit inside the hat
Ribbon/Flowers, etc…
Scrapbook Paper
Some Digital Files

I created the image myself in Photoshop using the Spooky Junque Brushes and Spooky Junque Borders Kits from Rhonna Designs

The fonts I used are Carnavale & Witched; I made a new label for the soda.  The tagline at the bottom says, “Halloween without a Witch is not Halloween at all”

  • Print the words on plain white cardstock.
  • Glue this piece of scrapbook paper
  • Using double-sided tape, tape to a 2-liter bottle. The white cardstock won’t go all the way around, so you’ll have to patch it in the back.

To Make the Witch Hat Topper

Cover the styrofoam cone with a black felt and hollow out the center enough so that it sits on top of the soda bottle.

Then just put the witch’s hat on top and glue on some ribbons and a flower!

As a final touch, add a bit of glitter to the label!

I think it would be a cute neighbor or teacher gift for Halloween- and you could use any soda you like. Rootbeer would be really cute.

If you don’t want to make the Label yourself in Photoshop, you can find another version of the 2-liter bottle labels on the blog as well.

  1. I love this idea!! It’s my favorite time of the year and I always love all your spooky decorations and projects. You never cease to amaze me!

I finally feel like my life is only semi-crazy (but hey, whose isn’t?) and I’m excited to get back into blogging. I’ve really missed it because I miss the people and seeing what everyone is up to.

It was so great to see you and Julie at Kristi’s this summer. I miss Kentucky, a lot. But, one of my brothers just interview at Louisville for medical school and another is going to interview for ob/gyn residency programs at U of L, UK and Cincy. I’ve got to get one of them out there so I have a reason to visit- often!

    Happy Halloween!!!
