Finish it Friday; Navy Sparkler Quilt
I’m sharing all of the details from my most recently finished Quilt. It’s a modern, colorful version of my Choose Happiness Quilt.
This year I have challenged myself to finish many of the projects in my Works In Progress (WIP) pile. I’ve been sharing my progress with you here on Fridays as a part of my “Finish it Friday” blog series.
Each year I host a monthly quilt along. This year we are almost finished with the All the Hearts Quilt, and last year the Quilt along was for the Choose Happiness Quilt. The pattern became one of my favorites, so when I was asked to teach a class at Garden of Quilts this year, I knew that I wanted to include the project in my teaching schedule.
Quilt Pattern Design Details
The Choose Happiness quilt is constructed from several different Sawtooth Star quilt blocks. The blocks are set on point, making them look like Ohio Stars when the Quilt is finished. The outside of each block is the same; the centers of the blocks feature a variety of geometric shapes.
The original Quilt I created for the Quilt Along was made from Pink, Aqua, and Yellow solid color fabrics. I love a quilt with a dark background (like my Patchwork Paddock quilt) and have wanted to make another one for a while now.
So for my Garden of Quilts class, I created a quilt using a dark Navy background and fabrics from my new Sparkler fabric collection.
Sparkler fabric is a modern graphic fabric collection that features a bit of gold sparkle. The collection features 30 curated colors.
My husband and I recently took a trip to the gulf coast in Florida; I had the quilt top finished in time for my class but purposely waited to quilt it until after the course.
Given that I would be at the beach, I decided it would be a great time to photograph the finished Quilt.
I bound the Quilt on the drive down to Florida, then toted it around 30A with me for a week! I get so many crazy looks! Even after 11 years of blogging, I STILL get nervous when taking photos of quilts in public spaces.
