Stitch a Snowman! Snowman Quilt Block Pattern for the Festive Friends Quilt Along
The Snowman Quilt Block pattern is pattern two of our Festive Friends Quilt Along! Use our easy-to-follow directions to create a twelve-inch Snowman Quilt Block!
Hello! Welcome to Block Two of the Festive Friends Quilt Along! I’m thrilled with the positive response I’ve received. It’s wonderful that you’re all excited about it, and I hope you enjoy the experience!
I’ve personally had a lot of fun designing and sewing these quilt blocks. While I don’t want to stop at just six blocks, that’s okay—it opens up many options for next year’s quilt along!
Snowman Quilt Block Details
Once again, my quilt block pattern design was inspired by one of my Christmas Mason jar projects from the past.
This snowman mason jar gift was one of the first projects I posted on this site!
Additional Block Details
- The block is 12″ x 12″ finished.
- You will construct the block using Black, White, & Red Sparkler Fabrics.
- The fringe section of the scarf is foundation paper pieced.
What is the Festive Friends Quilt Along?
The Festive Friends Quilt Along is a free quilting event hosted on the Polka Dot Chair. During the month of December, create a fun Christmas quilt with our free Christmas quilt block patterns. Between December 1st and 20th, visit our site to print one of the adorable Christmas quilt blocks (blocks will be posted throughout the month; full schedule below). But don’t delay because, like Cinderella, the patterns will disappear at midnight on December 31st 2024. Now that the quilt along is over the patterns have been moved to our shop. Watch for a NEW QUILT ALONG December 2025!
How Do I Get the Snowman Quilt Block Pattern?
Now that the Quilt Along is over, you can purchase a PDF copy of the pattern in our shop if you prefer that format.
You can also purchase the entire Festive Friends Quilt Pattern.
About the FPP Portion of the Block
Not everyone loves FPP, but this little section of the block is SO EASY to sew. It’s just straight lines! The “math” for the fringe section is not straightforward, so I’ve created a simple FPP pattern for you to use instead.
However, if you absolutely do not want to FPP that section of the block, you can do the following.
- Cut four red pieces and three white pieces, each 1″ x 2 1/2″
- Sew them together, alternating red and white strips (starting and stopping with red).
- Press the piece, then trim it to 3 1/2″ wide by 2 1/2″ tall.
- Using this method, the two red fringe pieces on the ends will be narrower than the other fringe pieces.
Our quilt is beginning to take shape! I can’t wait to share the rest of the blocks with you!
