I’m thrilled to introduce you to my newest quilt pattern, the Spooky Shelfie Pattern! This Halloween sampler quilt pattern is a unique take on a bookshelf quilt and features a variety of picture Halloween Quilt blocks.

I know that it’s May, and it seems funny to release a Halloween quilt pattern right now, but one thing I’ve learned from years as a quilt pattern author and fabric designer is that when it comes to Holidays, you have to plan ahead!

Spooky Schoolhouse Fabric

My newest fabric collection with Riley Blake was released just a few weeks ago. It’s called Spooky Schoolhouse, and I’ll share more about it here in the coming weeks. The fabric collection is a Halloween fabric line I designed after imagining a school for witches in NYC.

The line features a variety of spooky prints, including a building facade, ghosts, wallpaper damask, and a spooky night sky!

About the Quilt

The Spooky Shelfie quilt is a Sampler Halloween Row quilt. There are five rows, and each row features a variety of Halloween quilt blocks:

  • Book Quilt Blocks
  • Potion Quilt Blocks
  • Pumpkin Quilt Blocks
  • Broom Quilt Block
  • Witch Hat Quilt Block
  • Cauldron & Bubbles Blocks

The finished size is 48″ x 68″.

All of the blocks are traditionally pieced; the bottom portion of the broom quilt block is Foundation Paper Pieced – there will be a video on our YouTube channel walking you through how to piece this section of the broom.

The quilt is designed to be made with Fat Quarters of Spooky Schoolhouse fabric. One pre-packaged fat quarter pack will give you enough fabric to make the entire quilt, with the exception of the background and border fabrics.

Quilt Kit Information

Riley Blake has created a quilt kit for this quilt! The quilt kit will come with the pattern and all of the fabrics needed to make the quilt. It also comes in a commemorative Halloween box! We do not have a ship date on the kits yet, but they should begin arriving in May.

Many Etsy shops have pre-orders for the Riley Blake kits. If you are a shop with a kit available, let me know, and I’ll add you to the sources page.

Quilt Along Information

      1. I actually have a Long Arm machine. I don’t talk about it here since I’m by no means an expert! Most long armers can get a spierweb pantograph. They are pretty popular.

  4. So excited! Found the quilt kit at a store in Jackson, Tennessee. Looking forward to participating.
