Dazzle Quilt Block Pattern
Today, I’m excited to share with you a free pattern for the Dazzle Quilt block as a part of the Riley Blake quilt block challenge.
The Dazzle quilt block is the fifth quilt block in the 2024 Riley Blake Designs quilt block challenge. The Riley Blake Block challenge is a free quilt along hosted by Riley Blake Designs and many of their fabric designers. 15 different fabric designers participated, and I’ll share my block pattern in May.

About the Quilt Block
This week’s block is called Dazzle and is designed by Kristy Lea of Quiet Play. If you’ve not “met” her, you should know her! She designs beautiful modern quilt patterns.
As with all the other blocks in the challenge, this block finished as 10″ x 10″. It features four 2 1/2″ squares and twelve 2 1/2″ half-square triangles arranged in a unique star-inspired layout.
Supplies
This quilt block features more colors than others in the challenge. The cutting directions list ten different fabrics. You can see in the Riley Blake confetti cottons quilt sample that they used Pink, Purple, Green, Orange, Yellow, Red, and Light & Dark blue.
If you are sewing along with the challenge, this block is a great opportunity to tie all the colors in your quilt together.
For my block, I kept my color scheme a little simpler, choosing dark pink, green, and light blue fabrics from the Tulip Cottage fabric collection.
A Few Other Details
I love to fussy cut fabrics. In fact, when I design my fabric collections, I purposely add a lot of little “scenes” and illustrations to the prints that are perfect for fussy cutting.
When I started to sew this quilt, I decided that I would fussy cut as many of the fabrics as possible, and all of the small squares in this block presented many opportunities for fussy cutting!
