Join Me for the Santa’s Sampler Quilt Along
Please join me as we create the Santa’s Sampler Quilt! This Christmas quilt pattern will be shared on the Polka Dot Chair site, one block at a time, throughout December! Keep reading to find out how to play along!

Last year I hosted the Festive Friends quilt along, and we’re doing it again this year, with the Santa’s Sampler quilt!
Why I’m Making a Holiday Quilt in December
I know that many of you love to stay “ahead of the game” and get a lot of your holiday sewing done in the months leading up to Christmas. I, however, have never really been great at planning when it comes to quilting, not a great trait for a quilt pattern designer to have LOL!

For me, part of enjoying the season is creating seasonal projects. I want to sew with Christmas fabrics DURING Christmas! I know that it’s a busy time of year, but I’ve always tried to carve out a few hours every week for some creative “me” time.
I know the holidays look different for each of us, and not everyone has a packed schedule or a big community around them. If the season ever feels a little quiet or underwhelming, I wanted to create something fun and festive that you can join in on.
How the Quilt Along Will Work
Between December 1st and 17th, visit our site to PRINT one of the adorable Christmas quilt blocks (blocks will be posted throughout the month; full schedule below). Even if you don’t want to sew the blocks right now, take a few minutes to print the patterns because, like Cinderella, the patterns will disappear at midnight on December 31st, 2025, and will be moved to our shop.
This is a MYSTERY quilt along, and the block designs will be revealed as we go!

FAQ’s
Can you email me the blocks?
No. This quilt-along is hosted on our website, not through email. However, if you subscribe to our weekly newsletter, we will let you know when the new blocks are posted so you can print the patterns!
Can I share the blocks?
No, if you have friends who want to play along, please send them to our website! The blocks are free, but they are still copyrighted. You can not copy or distribute the patterns in any way.
What if I miss a block?
All the block patterns will be on our site through the end of the year, so you’ll have plenty of time to print them. We will link the past blocks in each blog post so you can easily find them.
Can I get a PDF?
Yes, you can purchase a PDF for a small fee for each block. Buying all block patterns will cost about the same price as one of our existing sampler quilt patterns. You can also buy the complete pattern from our shop in January.
When will the block patterns be posted?
They will be posted between December 3rd and 17th.
How do I print the patterns?
Scroll down to each blog post and look for the large green print button. Just click that, and the block pattern will automatically be formatted for printing.
What do the blocks look like?
It’s a mystery! All are Christmas-themed.
Why are there ads with the block patterns?
This is a free pattern; use the print button on our website to print a copy to keep close by as you sew (ads do not print). I know it’s essential to have written instructions close by, I’m a quilter too!
Yes, there are ads on this website. The ads allow us to offer you so many free patterns and projects. Would I like there not to be ads? Yes! Would I like to walk into Target and have everything be free? Also yes! LOL!
I offer premium content. I don’t post “just to post,” and I have deleted projects in the past that I didn’t think were worth your while. If you’re visiting here, you can be assured that you will get worthwhile, creative, and helpful information! So yes, there are ads; they make this site and the thousands of free projects possible.
I do not want to start charging for everything because I know some of you can not always afford to pay for projects. In addition, we offer a print button for almost every project, unlike most sewing and quilting blogs.
I hope you’ll be kind and understanding as we start this fun quilt! I am SO EXCITED to share these quilt blocks with you; some are so cute, and wait until you see the finished quilt!
Where to Buy Sparkler Fabric
If you do not want to use Sparkler fabrics, you can use any Riley Blake basics line (solids, Blossom, Dainty Daisy, Texture, Shades, etc) with the same color name as the Sparkler color. You can also take the printable fabric requirements with you to your local quilt shop and shop for prints in similar colors.
- Many Etsy shops have a selection of Sparkler Fabrics.
- Hawthorne Threads carries the line in all colors.
- Shabby Fabrics also has some in stock.
I hope that you will join me for this fun sew-along!
