RBD Block Challenge Block 4; Stella Quilt Block Pattern

Updated: Jan 7, 2022 by Melissa Mortenson · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · Leave a Comment

New month new quilt blocks! The Riley Blake Block challenge continues during March, with 3 patterns scheduled to be released this month. The first of the three blocks is designed by Sandy Gervais and is called Stella.

    About the Block

For my quilt, I’m sewing with Liberty Fabrics Summer Flower Show collection. To make my fabric choices for each block a little bit simpler, I selected 3-4 fat quarters from the collection to create all 3 quilt blocks for the month.

    (my February Blocks)

Since it’s a new month, I’m working with a new set of fabric prints within the collection—this time pulling in a darker pink and blue.

This block was a bit more challenging for me to piece than the previous 3. I messed up a couple of times and had a hard time getting the triangle in the outside centers of the block square. I unpicked it a few times but, in the end, called it “good enough.” When it’s sewn into the quilt, I won’t even notice that it’s a bit “off.”

Riley Blake has a few tips for piecing this block using a triangle in square ruler on their Instagram page, including a short video.

How to Get the Block Pattern

Fill out the form below and we will email you all of the blocks in the challenge.

The pattern has also been added to our templates library if you’d prefer to download it there.
